Volunteers make a big difference in the life of Friends Meeting School. Not only does volunteering help our school become a better learning and growing environment for your children, but your involvement in our school is another way of showing your child you care. PARENT
OUTREACH

FPO (Friends Parent Organization) Leadership Help run parent meetings,
attend Board meetings as Parent Representative, Foster communication and
community between school and parents
____ Welcome new families to school.
SCHOOL
PROGRAM
_____ Room Parent. Assist with special classroom events.
_____ Volunteer in a Classroom.
_____ Assist Teachers in Making Materials at Home.
_____ Technology Committee. Help enhance use of technology at school.
_____ Library. Library Assistance during school day to shelve, check-in
books, and assist faculty.
_____ International Week. Assist classroom in becoming another country
for a day.
_____ Field trips or special visitors. Arrange special events or drive
on field trips.
_____ Talk with students about field of expertise or special interest.
_____ Drama/Music. Assist with plays, talent show, or musical productions.
_____ Community Service. Arrange for or assist with community service
project(s).
GENERAL
SUPPORT
_____ Bulk mailing. Assembling mailings, such as The FMS Sun or fundraising
appeals.
_____ Paper/Cardboard Recycling. Remove recycled paper and cardboard
from school on weekly basis and transport to curbside pickup point or
recycling center.
_____ Office volunteer. Help answer phone, get weekly Bulletins out,
assist with other clerical duties.
_____ Odd jobs. Assist with handy jobs and building and grounds projects.
_____ Moving. Help move into new building.
_____ Beautification/Gardening. Assist with planting and weeding.
_____ Refreshments. Serve refreshments for special events such as Back
to School Night and Open Houses.
_____ Hospitality. Greet guests and talk about school program to prospective
parents at Open Houses.
_____ Outreach. Represent the school at community functions, e.g. Germantown
Oktoberfest, Frederick Children's Festival, Mt. Airy Spring Fling.
BOARD
COMMITTEES OPEN TO PARENTS.
These committees support the work of the Board of Trustees by making
recommendations for school policies, assessing the state of the school,
and strengthening the school's financial base.
_____ Property Committee. Considers plans for buildings and grounds.
Meets first Sunday of each month from 3-5 pm.
_____ Spiritual Life Committee. Considers spiritual state of the school
and supports its spiritual life.
_____ Advancement Committee. Supports marketing of the school and oversees
all school fund-raising.
FUNDRAISING
EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES
_____ The Campaigns. Serve as class chair for our Annual Giving and
Building Campaigns. Assist with letters, phonathons and other outreach.
_____ Fun Fundraisers.
_____ Sally Foster Giftwrap in September.
_____ Scholastic Book Fair in October.
_____ Pizza Fridays throughout the year.
_____ Auction --the school's major Fun Fundraiser.
_____ Painless Fundraisers.
_____ Boxtops for Education.
_____ Campbells Soup Labels.
_____ Grocery Store Programs for Education from Giant, Safeway, Superfresh.
_____ Target Guest Card Program
