Beyond the Classroom

There are many facets of school life that are integrated into our unique educational experience, that experience encompasses classes, activities, sports and community service.

Soccer, Cross-country, basetketball, volleyball, and flag football are some of the organized sports offered after school.

Classes or clubs are routinely offered after school. Depending on the needs and interests of the students the classes may be about cooking, language, time management, music lessons, or crafts. The classes usually meet for an hour or two after school on a given day of the week. These are independent of the After-School program and are usually taught by a faculty member. Students may sign up for a single class or a series of classes as they are announced.  Fees vary depending on the class.

FMS also participates in Destination Imagination (DI) along with the ranks of other schools in 50 states and over 30 countries.  DI emphasizes creativity, problem solving and teamwork.  DI offers a team of up to 7 kids open-ended challenges each year to work on. Teams must create solutions that are imaginative, original, divergent and ingenious! Students work together in teams to tackle these challenges under the direction of a team manager.
Team members develop a solution and present it in a performance. The team designs and creates, without adult assistance, all props, costumes and other artistic and technical elements necessary to bring the solution to life
