Latest News from the FPO: Did you know??? ....our girls' basketball team is ranked first place in the league going into the championship! Our boys' basketball team has also been playing very well, and will see great action at the championship. Mark your calendars for a week of championship frenzy starting Monday, February 15th thru Friday, February 19th. Let's fill the gymnasium with parents, students, and staff, and show our support!! Information on the championship will be announced to FMS families. Wear our school's new sports wear to the game. Don't have any yet, buy it at the game! Go Falcons!! Many FMS students are working extremely hard this month in preparing for the performing arts production of Jungle Book. A sneak peek of costume preparation reveals that we will see another year of Broadway-quality ensemble to compliment the theatrical gifts within our children. This is a must see performance on stage at the Weinberg Theatre in Frederick - Sunday, March 14^th. Advanced tickets are available at the FMS office. February is Science Fair month at FMS. Our young scientists have stretched their minds to discover new frontiers in the massive world of science. Their teachers have, again this year, taught them the wonders of their own capabilities. Your child's Science Fair project will be proudly displayed in their classroom for all to view. Thank you so much for the support you have given them on their presentations. The plethora of snow this season has canceled several events at school and has given our children time for winter fun outside (and inside, too). We continue to plan for a Friends First Friday for March. Details of student activities and family dinner for next month will be announced soon. The FPO is an organization run and managed by parents of our students. It provides support and coordination for many of our programs and represents the voice of our parents to the staff and the Board of Trustees. FPO sponsors a number projects throughout the year including the Welcome Back Social, teacher wish list items (e.g., SmartBoards, laminator), a teacher appreciation luncheon, and the Guatemalan dinner / program. FPO also organizes Fall Fun Day, the annual auction, painless fundraisers, an art / craft fair, lecture series, teacher / staff support, and hot lunches for the students as well as a variety of other activites and fundraisers. The FPO is one of the best ways to become involved in FMS or to get questions answered by other parents. Become a member today! (FPO Membership Form).
