Lower School

The Lower School program at Friends Meeting School engages students in hands-on exploration and learning through play, whether it be in the classroom, outdoors, or on a field trip. Students are encouraged to work collaboratively in groups while also developing independence in their learning. Every day, our students are challenged to take risks in service of their learning and to critically examine and think about the world around them.

The Lower School curriculum includes language arts, math, science, social studies, Spanish, art, music, and physical education. While our classrooms are outfitted with technology like interactive flat-panel displays, we ensure that devices supplement, not drive our pedagogy. With small class sizes, teachers provide individualized attention and engage students in creative and fun learning experiences.
