Middle School

At Friends Meeting School, the Middle School program focuses on developing students’ independence to better cope with their growing responsibility as they prepare for high school. Our teachers balance nurturing support alongside gentle nudging and guidance, as students cope with the complex developmental changes that occur at this level. Across all disciplines, critical thinking, organizational skills, and speaking are emphasized and students are encouraged to take intellectual risks. Our Middle School courses include language arts, social studies, science, math, Spanish, physical education, art, and music. These courses are coupled with electives such as service crew, musical instruments, and reading buddies with Lower School students.
